Arabic for Non-Native Speakers: Learn Modern Standard (fuṣḥā) Arabic in live one-on-one classes with male and female teachers who graduated from Arabic language faculties. Every class mixes speaking, reading, writing and grammar, and the teacher explains in English when needed.

What will I learn?

  • Arabic letters and sounds, including the sounds English speakers find hardest
  • Everyday words and phrases: introductions, family, work, travel and shopping
  • Reading and writing, from single words to short texts
  • Core grammar step by step: nominal and verbal sentences, pronouns, verbs and their forms
  • Speaking and listening practice in real situations every class
  • Quranic vocabulary and the words of the prayer, if you want to understand what you recite

What are the levels?

  1. Beginner: letters and sounds, words and sentences for introductions and daily life.
  2. Intermediate: reading short texts, writing a paragraph, core grammar and longer conversations.
  3. Advanced: reading and understanding longer texts, written expression and more detailed grammar.

The teacher checks your level in the free trial class and you start where you fit.

Standard Arabic or a dialect?

We teach Modern Standard Arabic, the language of the Quran, books and the news, understood across the Arab world. If you need words from a particular dialect for work or travel, tell your teacher and they will add them to your plan.

What happens in a class?

Each class starts by reviewing last time’s vocabulary, then a new reading or grammar lesson, then a short conversation where you use what you learned, and ends with a little homework.

Every week you get a short written report: what was covered, recurring mistakes, and next week’s goal.

How do I start?

  3. In the trial class the teacher checks your level and suggests a plan and number of classes.
