Tajweed for Women: A Tajweed course taught entirely by female teachers who hold an ijazah, in private one-on-one classes at times that fit your home and work. The camera is optional: classes can be audio-only with screen sharing.

What will I learn?

  • Points of articulation (makharij) and letter characteristics
  • Rules of noon sakinah, tanween and meem sakinah
  • Qalqalah, and heavy and light letters (tafkheem and tarqeeq)
  • The types of madd and their lengths in Hafs
  • Correcting your recitation verse by verse with the teacher

Do I need to turn on my camera?

No. Many of our students study audio-only. The teacher shares the Mushaf page on screen and listens to your recitation. If you study with a camera, only you and the teacher are in the class.

In what order are the rules taught?

  1. The points of articulation (makharij).
  2. Noon sakinah and tanween.
  3. Meem sakinah.
  4. Qalqalah.
  5. Heavy and light letters (tafkheem and tarqeeq).
  6. The types of madd and their lengths.

Every rule is applied to ayat from the Mushaf in the same class. See the six stages with explanations.

What happens in a class?

The teacher explains one rule with an example from the Mushaf, then you recite and she corrects your delivery verse by verse. The class ends with the verses to practise before next time.

Every week you get a short written report: what was covered, recurring mistakes, and next week’s goal.

How much does the course cost?

From $25 a month for two 30-minute classes a week, up to $85 for four one-hour classes a week. The price only rises with the number of hours, and every package is one-on-one. How do I start?

  1. Book the free trial class with the form or on WhatsApp.
  2. We reply within 24 hours and suggest a male or female teacher and a time in your time zone.
  3. In the trial class the teacher checks your level and suggests a plan and number of classes.
  4. You choose a package and start classes on Zoom or Google Meet.
  5. Every week you get a written report: what was covered and next week’s goal.

Are all the female teachers certified?

Yes. Every female teacher holds an ijazah with a sanad connected to the Prophet ﷺ. You can ask to see your teacher's ijazah in the free trial class.

Is the camera required?

No. Classes can be audio-only with screen sharing.

I can read but make mistakes. Where do I start?

You start with a free trial class where the teacher assesses your recitation, then the course begins from the first rule you need.

Can my daughter study with the same teacher?

Yes. Many mothers and daughters study with the same female teacher in separate classes.

Can classes fit around family and work?

Yes. Classes run 24 hours a day in your local time, and you can reschedule at least 4 hours before a class without losing it.

Do you teach the Tajweed texts?

If you want to, such as Tuḥfat al-Aṭfāl and then al-Muqaddimah al-Jazariyyah, after the rules are applied well in recitation.
