  • The ten readers and their twenty narrators: Nafiʿ, Ibn Kathir, Abu ʿAmr, Ibn ʿAmir, ʿAsim, Hamzah, al-Kisaʾi, Abu Jaʿfar, Yaʿqub and Khalaf al-ʿAshir
  • Ash-Shatibiyyah for the seven, and ad-Durrah for the three that complete the ten (the minor ten)
  • Ibn al-Jazari’s Tayyibat an-Nashr (the major ten)
  • Reading each riwayah on its own, then combining them (jamʿ)
  • An ijazah with a connected sanad on completion

What is the difference between the minor and major ten?

The minor ten (al-ʿashr aṣ-ṣughrā) are the ten qiraʾat via ash-Shatibiyyah for the seven and ad-Durrah al-Mudiyyah for the other three. The major ten (al-ʿashr al-kubrā) are the same ten via Ibn al-Jazari’s Tayyibat an-Nashr, which includes more routes and ways. Most students complete the minor ten first.

What happens in a class?

You recite an agreed portion in the set riwayah to the sheikh and review the lines of the text that cover it, then move to combining riwayat once each is mastered.

Every week you get a short written report: what was covered, recurring mistakes, and next week’s goal.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to memorize the whole Quran first?

Usually yes, especially for combining riwayat. The sheikh decides after a level test.

How much does the qiraʾat track cost?

It is priced by plan after a level test, like the ijazah track.

What is the difference between ifrād and jamʿ?

Ifrād is a full khatmah in one riwayah. Jamʿ is reading each passage in all the set readings before moving on.

Which texts are studied?
